The Stillwater River begins high in the mountains of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness Area. The river flows for more than twenty miles through the wilderness area before leaving the mountains behind and spilling out into the rolling prairie and canyons of the Stillwater Valley.

The Stillwater River flows for another 45 miles through a mix of canyons, prairie and forest and is joined by the East Rosebud, and West Rosebud tributaries until meeting up with the Yellowstone River near the town of Columbus, Montana. With the majestic Beartooth Mountain range to the west of the valley, this area is known for its exceptional beautiful and is a popular destination for hiking, hunting, and fishing.

Red Lodge is a fun resort town nestled against Montana’s highest mountain peaks. Red Lodge is best know as a gateway to Yellowstone Park via the beautiful Beartooth Highway. At the highway’s summit, travelers find themselves in a sky-high world of glacial cirques, clear alpine lakes, and snow that lingers through the summer months.

Yellowstone National Park is one of the world’s primary wildlife preserves and has the greatest concentration of geysers and hot springs in America. Yellowstone National Park was established as the world’s first national park in 1872 and has more than 1,100 historic structures.

Tippet Rise Art Center is located in Fishtail, Montana, against the backdrop of the Beartooth Mountains.
